How to use this test

  1. Start and watch

Start the test and keep the large signal area in view. A blank wait of 0.7–1.3 seconds separates the signals.

  2. Tap or hold

Each shape lasts one second. Tap the signal area, click it, or press Space or Enter for a circle. Do nothing for a square. Only the first response during a signal counts.

  3. Read the separate results

After twenty signals, review correct circle taps, missed circles and taps on squares. The median uses correct circle responses only. Overall accuracy also includes correctly ignored squares.

What we check

Each run shuffles fourteen circle signals and six square signals. Circles and squares use the same colour; the shape and its text label identify the rule.

The timer begins when the browser draws the cue. Responses outside the one-second signal window are ignored, including clicks during the blank waits. After a response, the cue remains for the rest of its window so the schedule stays consistent.

What this test can’t tell you

This is an informal practice game, not a clinical assessment or an IQ score. Familiarity, language, device and input method can affect your result.

Something not working?

A click did not count

Respond during the visible circle, not during the blank wait. Repeated or held-key responses do not earn extra points.

The run paused when I changed apps

The run is cancelled when the page is hidden or loses focus. Start a fresh run so the signals remain visible.

There is no response-time value

If you did not tap any circle within its window, there are no valid response times to summarize. Misses and square taps still appear.

Common questions

Are a missed circle and a square tap the same error?

They are reported separately. A miss is no response to a circle; a square tap is a response when the rule asked you to wait.

Does the game diagnose ADHD or impulsivity?

No. Performance on this informal browser task cannot establish a diagnosis, a trait or a medical conclusion.

How long does a run take?

Usually around forty seconds. Actual browser scheduling can vary; leaving the page cancels the run.
