What we check
Audio begins only after your action, which avoids browser autoplay restrictions and gives you control over when sound starts. This online headphone, headset, earphone and earbud test sends short, controlled prompts to the left, right, or both channels where the browser and output route preserve that channel information.
The page asks you to confirm the cue you heard because web pages generally cannot inspect the physical headphones, speakers, volume setting, or route chosen by the operating system. A browser playback event alone is not evidence that sound reached your ears.
Short ramps at the beginning and end of a prompt can reduce abrupt clicks. The tool is for channel identification and practical setup checks, not a measurement of audio fidelity.
What this test can’t tell you
This is not a hearing test, a speaker-health diagnosis, a surround-sound verification, a noise-cancelling test, a sound-quality test, or a calibrated frequency-response measurement.
Bluetooth routing, operating-system balance settings, adapters, mono audio, browser output choice and physical fit can all change what you hear without being visible to this page.
Something not working?
There is no sound

Both prompts play on one side
Check operating-system accessibility and audio-balance settings, then reconnect the headset or adapter. Try another audio source to isolate the route.
Left and right seem reversed
Confirm the headset orientation and cable/adaptor connections. The page can label the sent channel, but it cannot identify where a physical wiring change occurred.
The sound starts late or cuts out
Bluetooth devices may take time to wake or change profile. Pause, reconnect the device, and try again with other audio apps closed.

Yes. The page plays its prompts through the output device your browser is using, whether that is headphones, a headset, earphones, earbuds or speakers. It cannot identify the physical device automatically.
Can the page tell whether I heard the tone?
No. It can send a prompt; your confirmation is the meaningful result.
Is this a hearing test?
No. It does not use calibrated equipment or controlled listening conditions and cannot assess hearing.
Can it test noise cancelling or sound quality?
No. The page does not measure noise cancellation, frequency response or overall sound quality. It is a practical audio and left/right channel check.
Will it test 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound?
